Doira Díaz-Rivera is an Income Member in the Environmental and Land Use Practice Group. She is also a part of the firm's Trusts and Estates Practice Area and the Health Care Practice Area.

Practice Areas

Ms. Díaz's practice includes transactional, litigation and notarial work related to environmental law, land use, real estate and estate planning. Her transactional experience includes the drafting of agreements with a focus on potential environmental liabilities and negotiation of settlement agreements. Her litigation work includes both administrative and judicial actions related to enforcement, cost recovery, regulatory compliance, and permitting-related matters. She also advises clients on environmental aspects of land transfers and on issues arising out of other real estate and corporate transactions. In addition, her notarial law practice consists of the drafting of wills and trusts as well as advise regarding wealth transfer planning for high net worth families, asset protection, insurance trusts, etc.

Education

In 1998, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania and a Juris Doctor degree from Fordham University School of Law in 2001. In May 2001, Fordham University awarded her the Archibald Murray Public Service Award.

Ms. Díaz is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the State of New Jersey, the State of New York, the United States District Court for the Districts of Puerto Rico and New Jersey and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Memberships

She is a member of the Puerto Rico Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.

Representative Matters

She has actively participated in the consolidated noxious odors nuisance actions Comité Pro Defensa Ambiental de Barceloneta, et al. v. Compañía de Aguas, et al., CPE 99-0358 and Mitzie Ramos González, et al. v. Compañía de Aguas, et al., CDP2000-0052. Ms. Díaz also participated in the purchase of the Ponce Hilton Hotel by Serrallés, Inc., among other land use related transactions.
