Iván G. Marrero is a Capital Member of the Firm and Vice Chairman of the Corporate Practice Group. He is also Chairman of the firm's Corporate & Public Finance Practice Area, and part of the Retail Industry Practice Area.

Mr. Marrero's practice includes corporate, banking, securities and trademark law.
Education
He obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, cum laude, from the University of Maryland in 1993. He obtained a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law in 1996. Mr. Marrero joined the Firm in 1994 as a law clerk, and in 1996 became an associate attorney. In 1998, he rejoined the Firm's Corporate Department after obtaining a Master of Laws in Corporate Law from the New York University School of Law. In 2001, he became a partner of the Firm, and from 2003 through 2006 was the Chairman of the Firm's Recruiting Committee. In 2006 he was named Vice Chairman of the Firm's Corporate Practice Group.

Mr. Marrero is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the State of Florida and the District of Columbia.

He is a member of the Puerto Rico Bar, the Florida Bar, and the District of Columbia Bar. He is also member of the Omicron Delta Epsilon International Honor Society in Economics, the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society and the Golden Key National Honor Society.
Representative Clients and Transactions
Mr. Marrero advises corporations, financial holding companies, banks and registered broker-dealers in corporate, securities and banking law matters. He has represented corporate clients in SEC-registered securities offerings and in compliance matters under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. He has also acted as bond, underwriters' or borrower's counsel in public offerings of municipal securities, including conduit financings, by government instrumentalities of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Moreover, he advises and represents clients on trademark law matters before the Puerto Rico Trademark Office.

Speaking Engagements
Mr. Marrero prepared and participated as a speaker in the first conference regarding the passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, which is the most sweeping securities law reform since the Great Depression, sponsored by the Puerto Rico Bankers Association.
In 2007 Mr. Marrero served on the securities law panel at the Hispanic National Bar Association's annual meeting in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and discussed U.S. Supreme Court decisions on pleading standards in private securities litigation, as well as developments on primary and secondary liability for securities fraud.
