International Trade
Our firm represents clients from around the world, including multinational conglomerates, and businesses and individuals throughout Puerto Rico and the United States. Our International Trade Attorneys have long-standing relationships with attorneys in many other countries that we work with for the protection of our client's interests both inside and outside of Puerto Rico and the United States.
Our International Trade Practice began as an outcrop of Puerto Rico's Caribbean/936 Program initially involving complementary plants and 936 (federal tax exemption) financing, but soon developed into a bi-partisan vision of converting Puerto Rico into a financial, service, transportation and commercial hub for the Caribbean and Latin America.
Today, our International Trade practice has evolved into other types of international work such as a joint venture in Barbados, a licensing agreement in the Dominican Republic and distribution/agency agreements in various Caribbean and Latin American countries. International trade, of course, also involves importation issues and the group is available for consultations in this area, including customs duties and labeling.
